Berkeley police clears suspicious vehicle near University Avenue, Bonar Street

Berkeley Police Department notified the community late Thursday morning that it cleared a suspicious vehicle near University Avenue and Bonar Street, allowing the community to safely return to the area, according to a Nixle alert.

At about 10:34 a.m., BPD notified the public through an initial Nixle alert that it had closed University Avenue between Acton and Curtis Streets to investigate a suspicious vehicle. Berkeley residents were advised to avoid the area between University Avenue and Acton, Addison and Curtis Streets, the alert said.

About 4o minutes later, BPD released a second alert saying that the area is safe to return to.
