Berkeley Police Department detained two men on separate occasions for unrelated crimes Sunday and Monday, according to a Nixle alert released Tuesday afternoon.

At about 3 a.m., police responded to a report from the Shell Gas Station on University Avenue about a man “running-up to people and cars and threatening them.”  According to the alert, officers detained the suspect — who was identified as Oakland resident Kaidi Clutchette, 39 — without incident. Clutchette was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation.

On Monday about 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run collision near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Carleton Street. BPD also received calls about a pick-up truck “driving recklessly” nearby.

Officers spotted the pick-up truck near the cross section of Ward Street and California Street and arrested the driver — Berkeley resident Akimasa Jawara Moore, 43 — on suspicion of DUI and hit and run.
