Berkeley police search for ‘at risk’ 73-year-old man with dementia

Berkeley Police Department released a Nixle alert Wednesday night asking for community assistance in locating a missing “at risk” person.

Charles Schug, 73, was last seen near the Solano Avenue, or Northbrae, Tunnel Wednesday at 3:45 pm, according to the alert. Schug was described by the alert as a White male with gray hair and blue eyes. The alert added that Schug is 5 feet 8 inches with a slim build, and was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark pants and rubber multi-color shoes.

Schug suffers from dementia and is non-verbal, according to the alert, and may pose a “possible threat to life or property.”

Anyone with information regarding Schug’s location is asked to call 911 or BPD at 510-981-5911.
