FAU student arrested for threatening to kill professor

FAU police arrested student Rafael Decomas, 20, after he threatened to kill professor Karl Weiss on Twitter because his final exam was scheduled early in the day.

Decomas is facing a charge of written threats to kill, but he said he didn’t mean to harm anyone, WPTV reported. As a commuter student, he was angry his professor scheduled his Data Structure exam for 7 a.m. because he’d have to wake up at 5 a.m. to get to the Boca campus.

FAU police received a tip Tuesday about the Twitter post, which Decomas admitted to writing. The post stated, “Bey i gern (expletive) kill dis professor bey this is my confession to a premeditated murder,” WPTV reported.

Decomas was released from Palm Beach County Jail on a bond of $5,000, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

The FAU police Public Information Officer had no comment, and Chief of Police Sean Brammer could not be reached as of publication time.
