A 700-spot parking lot is under construction on Discovery Drive across from the University of Connecticut’s Innovation Partnership building, according to UConn Today, with the aim to replace over 900 spaces that will be lost as the NextGen Science Complex builds over the lots located near North Garage.
Lots X, N and L, which primarily host commuter and Area 2/employee parking spots, are slated to be lost with the new project in the summer of 2019, according to UConn Today, with the construction of the new science complex. The new parking lot, which will be called K-Lot, will shift the parking away from the area as the lots close in Spring 2020, according to UConn Today.
K-Lot will be located about one mile from the center of campus, according to Google Maps data.
How many commuter and Area 2 spots the new lot will contain is still unknown. UConn Facilities Operations office is also working on a new bus system to transport those who will park in the new lot, according to UConn Today.
