The UConn Women’s Basketball team announced the signing of 2019 freshman recruit Aubrey Griffin on Tuesday, making her the first recruit signed to the 2019 freshman class.
Griffin is a 6-1 guard from Ossining, NY UConn Women’s Basketball alumna and current WNBA player Saniya Chong also hails from Ossining, NY. She is ESPN’s No. 33 overall recruit in the class of 2019 and No. 6 in her position.
Griffin was named the NY State Section 1 Player of the Year and was an All-State Selection. As a junior she averaged 28.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.9 assists per game.
Griffin hails from an athletic family. She is the daughter of former NBA player and current Toronto Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin. Her mother Audrey ran track at Seton Hall, and one of her brothers, Alan, is a freshman on Illinois’ basketball team.
In June, Adrian Griffin gave Aubrey high praise.
“Pound for pound she’s the best athlete in the family,” he told ESPNW.
